In the summer of 2017, Ali Alsalman (International Studies, 2017) assisted in the transcription and encoding of the journal of a late-seventeenth-century English naval voyage, associated with the project Carlos Enriques Clerque and the Narborough Expedition (1669–1671) to Chile: A Critical Edition of Essential Documents. He earned academic credit for this work, through an internship course supervised by Dr. Clayton McCarl. Ali presented on this work at the second annual DHI Digital Projects Showcase, hosted by the UNF Digital Humanities Initiative (now Institute) in November 2017, and the UNF International Studies/Digital Humanities Symposium in March 2018. Ali subsequently earned a MA in International Affairs (2019) at UNF. He is pictured here in 2018.
