El caso tal vez no llegara a una conclusión, pues el dossier solo presenta la declaración de un solo testigo, Gerónimo Gómez de Ureña, y no señala la toma de ninguna decisión por parte del juez, Joaquín de la Rocha Lavarces.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El apellido del suplicante aparece en el original y en la transcripción como &lt;em&gt;Bargas&lt;/em&gt; y &lt;em&gt;Vargas&lt;/em&gt;. Un documento de Sebastián Creagh, capitán del batallón de Garrido, demuestra que el soldado tiene el permiso de sus superiores. Alcántara, quien es de la Habana y afirma que sus padres están muertos, presenta a dos testigos que certifican que no tiene padres ni parientes en Florida que puedan dar su consentimiento.
